Grand Rapids Ballet Company Announces the Return of “Decades of Dance”

Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Michigan’s only professional ballet company, brings back its annual dance party fund-raiser, “Decades of Dance,” on June 23, 6:30-11:00pm, at the Grand Rapids Ballet Company Studios.

Decades of Dance is an annual Grand Rapids Ballet Company fundraiser, taking the form of a dance party. Each year Decades of Dance hosts a different theme with music and dance from a particular time period. This year’s party, “Lou’s Vegas Lounge,” will bring the big band days of the Rat Pack back to life as the Ballet Studios are transformed, reflecting the look and feel of a Vintage Vegas Lounge. Step back in time to the carefree days of JFK and Jackie’s Camelot, Marilyn, and the notorious Las Vegas Strip. Open to the public, Lou’s Vegas Lounge invites all who come to enjoy a night filled with music, dance, fabulous food, and lots of fun, all to benefit the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. If you were not part of the sold-out crowds at our first party, “Lou’s Swing Club” or last year’s “Club BabaLou,” be sure to join us this year.

Rick Reuther will spin the night away at Lou’s Vegas Lounge with the live and recorded classic standards of Frank, Deano, Sammy, and big band leaders like Nelson Riddle. A+ Dance Makers, Arthur Murray and the GRBC dancers will provide exciting exhibition dances. Put your feet to work in our dance competition for great prizes, or just start them moving with free dance lessons from Arthur Murray. Tempt your taste buds with great samplings from San Chez Bistro, The Watermark Grill, Sundance Grill, Gibsons and The Brandywine. Don’t forget to dress the part, as there will be a Best Vintage Dressed Contest. Purchase your tickets before June 7, and you will be entered in a drawing to win two vintage outfits from Nobody’s Sweetheart.
